RIP to Former New York Giants Safety, Tyler Sash

Former New York Giants and Iowa Hawkeyes Safety Tyler Sash was found dead in his home by a friend on September 8th at the young age of 27.  The former college standout was a 6th round pick (198th overall) of the Giants in the 2011 NFL Draft and played 2 seasons with the team.

Sash was a very good special teams player who was also a part of the XLVI Super Bowl winning Giants squad.  Just as he was poised to get some meaningful playing time in 2012, he was suspended for 4 games for taking adderrall, something that he had been prescribed legally to to help with his anxiety towards public speaking but had not appropriately notified the league.

Sash was an outstanding player at Iowa, compiling 13 career interceptions in his three years there and holding the record for most INT return yards (392) and most interceptions in a single game (3).

Here's my favorite Sash highlight from his Iowa days...

The University of Iowa put together a nice tribute video for the former Hawkeye.

Just sad news for someone so young to pass away.  Once A Giant, Always A Giant.
