Check Out the Trailer for the New Direct TV Show Kingdom and Try to Tell Me it Doesn't Look Amazing

I originally saw the trailer for this new show on one of the TVs that was playing NFL football games this past Sunday and even though there wasn't any sound coming from that TV, it already looked hella good.

So, right when I got home from watching the Giants piss away another game, I immediately looked up the trailer online, and wouldn't you know, it looks fucking awesome.

The show is apparently a DirectTV original which means it will be on the Audience channel if you have DirectTV.  The show premieres on October 9th at 8 PM.  The first season will run 10 episodes and is just the third original drama that DirectTV has come out with.

Here's a quick run-through of the cast, which is filled with some of my particular favorites from shows and movies past.

Matt Lauria

Lauria, most well-known from his role as Luke Cafferty, the shy Texas farmboy with the potent sperm, on one of my top 5 TV shows of all-time, Friday Night Lights.  He also was in the much-too-short cancelled show Chicago Code alongside Jason Clarke and has a couple seasons worth of Parenthood under his belt.

This dude knows how to do good television shows, and plus, now he looks ripped.

Jonathan Tucker

Jonathan Tucker (not from that shitty Must Die movie) is sneaky one of my favorite young actors to watch on the screen.  He can play characters that have some edge to them and for reasons that escape me, he hasn't become a bigger name yet.

He was in a lot of movies as a child actor (The Virgin Suicides, Sleepers, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, In The Valley of Elah, and so on) but always as a supporting character.  He just had a little two-episode arch on the phenomenally underrated show Hannibal and is still the star of quite possibly my favorite pilot for a TV show (that was cancelled since it was annexed to Friday Nights where it is impossible to get ratings back then) from when I was a kid, The Black Donnellys.

And just like everyone else on the show, he's mostly shirtless but in a Badass RockNRoller type of way.

Nick Jonas

Yes, Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers is set as one of the leads of the show.  He's buffed up big-time and looks to be taking his job as an actor incredibly serious.  He did a stint on Broadway in How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and was always 'the talent' in that band (not that I would know...) so it makes sense that he'd be the one out of the three (four?) of them to actually do something of note on the screen.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do and I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt based on how the rest of the show was cast.

Obligatory shirtless pic.

Frank Grillo

Frank Grillo is the rare case of a guy getting his due after hustling in the acting biz for a while.  He's a nice little story of the grind working out.  The guy he's playing in the show is some-what of a legend fighter from the past and his two sons (Jonas and Tucker) both want to follow in his footsteps a little bit, but with one being groomed for it and the other the fuck up who wants to show his dad that that's not all he is.

Grillo has practice in the MMA training gig in movies from Warrior where he reluctantly coach's Joel Edgerton's character.  Warrior is one of my two or three favorite sports movies of the past decade, so check that shit out if you haven't seen it yet.  It stars a not-yet-too-famous Tom Hardy and Nick Nolte in an unbelievable Oscar-Nominated comeback role.  Anyway...Grillo was also the lead in The Purge: Anarchy, so it looks like he's starting to turn some heads these days.  And I like him so, good for him.

P.S. Saracen is a big part of that movie, which brings us back to Friday Night Lights, so now we're full circle.

Kiele Sanchez

I had to throw at least one girl in here and Kiele Sanchez pretty much dominates the TV Trailer as far as women go, so she gets the nod.  She starred in The Purge: Anarchy with Grillo and my boy Saracen and actually ended up marrying QB1 Zach Gilfrod, so now I love her.

I'll even forgive her for almost ruining Lost in the famous Nikki and Paolo controversy.  I literally couldn't even remember what she looked like from that since I apparently tried to block that whole storyline out of my memory.

Either way, she's hot.

I absolutely LOVE the 90's look.

How about this Stuff Magazine shoot, AmIRight?

So that's that.  Here's the cast one more time.  Don't say I didn't warn you about how awesome this show is going to be.  You heard it here first.
