NY Giants Draft Profile: Jay Bromley

Round: 3
Pick: 10
Position: Defensive Tackle
College: Syracuse Orange

It looks like the Giants are addressing all of their areas of need after the first round pick of Odell Beckham Jr. with the selection of Jay Bromley to join the defensive line rotation on the inside.  The Giants are going to have to fill a big whole at D Tackle this year now that Linval Joseph is moving on to the Minnesota Vikings to the tune of a 5-year $31.5 million dollar contract.

The Giants couldn't match those dollars and are really going to feel it in the middle this year.  If Jonathan Hankins doesn't take a big step forward to fill in alongside Cullen Jenkins.  Both Markus Kuhn and Mike Patterson are going to have to show the front office something in the pre-season but one of those two, alongside Bromley are definitely going to see time this year.

It's time to step up and make the D-Line a strength of the Giants again this year.

Here we go with a little bit about Jay Bromely.

  • This story from the New York Daily News sums up the compelling story of Bromely's upbringing in Jamaica, Queens better than I ever could.
  • Bromley wasn't even watching the draft when the Giants selected him...he was at the supermarket.  I love it.
  • He grew up a Giants fan.
  • He was a Captain at Syracuse, so he must have some leadership qualities.
  • The more I read about this kid, the more I'm rooting for him to succeed.

Some highlights for your viewing pleasure.
