The Red Sox won 3-1 yesterday to take the series 2 games to 1 from the White Sox in Chicago. The hitting for the Sox has yet to catch up to the pitching so far this season, but if you're not going to get a ton of hits, it's good to get timely hits.
1. Pay That Man His Money
Jon Lester out-pitched White Sox starter Chris Sale as they both look no-hitters pretty deep into the game. I guess you can see why Jon Lester ripped up the contract offer for 4 years and 70 million that he was offered from the Sox. This is a guy who you can put up against any other number 1 in the league and should be paid that way. He can carry this staff (and has shown that with 2 World Series rings).
2. High Five City is Back!
He didn't look 100% like Koji last night and was leaving his splitter up a little bit, but c'mon, it's Koji. Even 80% of him is better than most closers. He threw strikes, got a K, and there was never any doubt that he was getting a save and the Red Sox were going to win once he came in the game.
3. X Gonna Give It To Ya
Xander hit a 444 foot absolute bomb to break up Sale's bid for a no-no and now has the longest home run for the Sox this season. Maybe he should keep accidentally posting pictures like this the night before games.
Just missed the three things:
- Herrera's squeeze play
- Napoli is back in the line up
- Adam Eaton robbing Papi's HR
- Rossy with a big double down the line to take the lead
- Adam Dunn may be the slowest person in the history of baseball. I'm not even over-stating that.
