I Guess That's One Way You Can React, Dave Chappelle

NBC - Comedian Dave Chappelle rankled fans in Hartford, Conn., on Thursday night when he cut short a performance and sat silently on a stool for nearly a half hour before walking off stage.
Chappelle, who was headlining the Funny or Die Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Tour, was on stage at the Comcast Theatre in Hartford for just a few minutes, when he suddenly stopped his routine and said the audience was making too much noise, one witness said. For the next 25 minutes, he sat on a stool, read from a book, told the crowd he was still getting paid and then eventually walked off the stage, a witness said.
Some fans are upset and want a refund.

Ummm, so I guess that's one way to react to a few people being noisy at a comedy show.  First of all, I don't think he should be doing stand-up in front of a 30,000 person crowd and performing outdoors either.  It doesn't seem to fit with comedy in general but more specifically his personality and type of comedy doesn't jive well in that kind of atmosphere.  Just seems like an odd choice that he wouldn't be in indoor theaters akin to what Louis C.K. and Aziz Ansari.  Plus, you could just have people kicked out if they were too loud.

But back to him getting upset at a couple of loud people and then just sitting there, smoking cigarettes, while he waited for his contractual 25 minutes to be up and then walking off.  What's that fucking noise about.  The majority of the crows wasn't heckling, traveled to get there, paid for expensive tickets, and genuinely wanted to hear his comedy.  The hecklers weren't even hecklers per se but just too loud for him.
Granted, I don't understand yelling a catch phrase like "Rick James" to him and what that really accomplishes, but I'm sure the people around the idiots were telling them to pipe down.  It's definitely not the best move to ruin everyones time for something like that.

So now my brother has been to the Jack White NYC Concert where he cut his show off after about 30-45 mins for the crowd not being loud enough and this Chappelle Comedy show now for the crowd being too loud.  What the fuck.  So, yeah, I think I'll stay away from going to concerts and shows with him from now on.

P.S. Hartford, New England's Rising Star...for the past decade.
